FortyPhi Consultancy is a small company, founded by Jelmar Blauw. Jelmar is a very experienced IT expert, who started in the late ’80s at Philips Data Systems in the Netherlands, where he programmed in COBOL on its logistical IT system and also installed and supported this IT system at customers’ sites in various locations in Europe.
In 1989, he went to the U.K. to work for Galileo International as one of the very first permanent employees. Galileo developed a European reservation system for airlines. There he became a Database Specialist. He also worked in London for British Airways for two years as a consultant programmer on BA’s mission-critical Check-in and Boarding system. In 1996, he was asked to return to Galileo.
Jelmar moved with his family to southern Germany in 1998 to work for the competitor, Amadeus Data Processing, as a DB specialist. From 2001, he was leading the database team, with experts distributed across three continents. This is where he learned the importance of a solid Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Plan. In 2007, he made the switch to the “business” side of Amadeus and worked in Business Development. There, he was responsible for negotiating the operational parts of Amadeus’ SaaS contracts with major airlines and hotel chains (Top 10), but also with smaller potential customers, both in Europe and in the Middle East and USA. In recent years, Jelmar worked as a Product Manager specialising in Amadeus’ business continuity products.
His wish to return to the Netherlands could easily be combined with starting up his own consultancy firm.
